In recent years, as many know, the decline of Geiko has hit its all time high. With fewer girls going into the business and many leaving. Our okiya is not a re-enactment,nor is it cosplay. Mitsuhana Okiya is new, like so many before us. Those may worry about us using the terms, traditional and japanese entertainment, when we are in fact american.
Let me set your mind as ease with your worries.
We have access to the proper training for our Arts. All credits for dancing, music, and tea ceremony goes to the American Japanese Society located both in New York and New Jersey.
The only difference between Mitsuhana and those in Japan....are only two things.
-We're located in New Jersey, Usa
-We're american
Geiko means "child of the arts"......though many have built up sterio-types.
To be an artist, one must dedicate themselves to it. Whether you have almond shaped eyes or not. Art, in all of its wonderous forms has no race or country to call it's own. To be inspired, is to be welcomed into a world of endless possiblities. Many artists will tell you, they are but a tool allowing the art to flow through them. They do not know where it comes from, instead they become one with it and hope to bring it the beauty it so desires.
